Which cylinder head material is the best one to use: cast iron or aluminum?

Which intake runner volume should I choose?

My buddy has a set of camel hump heads. He says that they were professionally rebuilt and that he’ll sell them to me for $500. Does this sound like a good deal? I’m building a small block Chevy hot street/strip car and plan on doing more than a little bit of drag racing.
